National Night Out: Heightens Awareness, Informs Residents

San Lorenzo hosted the 30th annual "National Night Out" on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at St. John's Catholic Church.

The event brought in over 100 people of all ages from different communities, such as: San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, Cherryland and Ashland.

Visitors had the opportunity to talk to The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office or California Highway Patrol about any concerns they had regarding crime prevention and awareness. Attendees were even able to have a free dinner served by the officers themselves.

It was many people's first time attending National Night Out, while others have been attending for many years. The returners say they continue to come back because the event always informs them of what’s happening in their community, and how they can be active in the prevention of crime in their neighborhood.
