A man who died after he was found unconscious and injured in the hallway of a Hayward hotel Saturday morning has been identified as a 53-year-old San Leandro man, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

The man, identified by the coroner's bureau as Mark Mowdy, was found in the second-floor hallway at the Phoenix Lodge, located at 500 W. A St., at 6:41 a.m., Hayward police Sgt. Ken Forkus said.

Mowdy was found suffering from undisclosed injuries before he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Forkus said.
