Firefighters Save Cats From House Fire

Only one of four kitties rescued didn't make it.

Bay City News — A cat died and three more were saved from a one-alarm fire at a Castro Valley home Saturday, according to an Alameda County Fire
Department spokeswoman.
The fire was reported around 8:15 a.m. at a home in a multi-unit
building in the 20000 block of Anita Avenue, according to a fire dispatcher.
No one was home when fire crews arrived on the
scene, but firefighters quickly located four cats inside the home and brought
them outside, fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
Fire and medical personnel were able to save two cats using pet
resuscitation masks, and a third didn't require medical attention, she said.
One of the cats died after being brought outside.
Firefighters knocked down the blaze in less than 10 minutes, and
no other injuries were reported, Knowles said.
According to the spokeswoman, the fire appears to have started in
the home's kitchen, but the exact cause has not yet been determined.
