It would also be nice if coverage of the parade was given today (May 12) for those of us who…Read More couldn't make it. I thought the purpose of the various Patch websites was to give up-to-date LOCAL news.
By local, in this case, I mean Castro Valley, not Fremont, San Leandro, Hayward, Walnut Creek, etc. In other words, please cover what the title of this Patch is - Castro Valley/San Lorenzo

I participated in the SOD Blitz program last year. One of my samples was positive for SOD (Palomares…Read More Hills area) so this disasterous infection is in the Castro Valley area. I would like to urge anyone interested to look into participating in this year's SOD Blitz. There will be a Blitz training on April 27th in Berkeley. I remembered those lights the way they show up in the pic you posted, but I figured that they could…Read More have been changed to the colors, since I haven't been there in at least 6 years (I don't live in the area anymore). I use to eat there once every few weeks with a group of friends (we ate at a different restaurant every week around Hayward and Castro Valley (good memories). The food was always good then. My guess is that Bing doesn't run it anymore and the quality may have changed.

I encourage all to read the thoughts and comments of CVHS students. Young people today go through…Read More the same concerns, doubts, insecurity and joy that young people yesterday did. The difference is the vast array of media and outlets. Go back to your teen years and remind yourself of your feelings at that time. Then listen and talk to young people. They need our wisdom and interest. They are tomorrow's adults!

One of my favorites is:
#228 " I f***ing hate it when people stop in the middle of the f***ing…Read More hallways and hug there f***ing friends, or they stop a talk to someone. Like move the f*** over b****... Sorry about all the f***s."
It's funny to see they even upset each other with the lack of consideration for others. You have to admit you've experienced something similar to this involving a teen (even young 20-somethings) while driving, shopping, walking down the sidewalk, etc.

Julie, you are correct. I had seen a earlier version of the same story that highlighted the…Read More article with a photo of the San Leandro Police Chief who was being honored

Same event, same list of honorees. Ramirez is the name at the top but not on the list below.
My mistake. Ms. Ramirez and her organization are doing very excellent work. She should be honored.
I still stand by my earlier observations.
Where is the Man of The Year event? Perhaps there is one.
I only ask the question.
Also, going down that list of honored women, why is it that almost all of them are public employees and officials or are politicians.
What does that list say about ALL the other women in our society.
I just think Ms Corbetts focus is too much on government as the main value in society. And think perhaps there is a bit of politics in boosting all those public officials in the year preceding her next be election attempt.

The Woman of the Year and Founder of the Alameda County Blue Star Moms is actually a volunteer

No "Man of The Year" event for Senator Corbett?
Seriously, does she have a similar event…Read More to honor men in the district as well as the women?
A second question. -- In the entire list of women, you only see individuals who are either public employees or elected politicians.
Does this mean, of ALL the other women in the district, none rise to the level of being considered "Woman of the Year".
A possible indication of how the senator values the other 80% of society who aren't working for the government or running for office?
Did we mention that Ellen Corbett is running for congress in 2014.
