Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2010, Al Proietti's barbershop has been serving Castro Valley for several generations. With five barbers on duty and a sprawling parking lot, this neighborhood staple is a convenient men's grooming destination. Check out artist Karen Frye's painting of barber Al Martinez sprucing up a client, which was commissioned by Alameda County to document local history. This is on display at the new Castro Valley Library.
