Extended pharmacy hours, a sizeable garden section and the usual cosmetics and toiletries have made Rite Aid, on the north side of the Boulevard, a local standby. There are also the unexpected finds, like baby onesies that say "Someone in Castro Valley Likes Me," bags of ultra-premium Foxfarm Ocean Forest organic potting soil, and a stock of made-in-USA knitting yarn carried over from the days when this was a PayLess with an old-school fabrics and notions section. A watch- and jewelry repairman on site is another old-school plus.
