Every good taqueria has a special dish, something it does better than anybody else. At Portales Taqueria, it's the relleno. Chef/owner Gustavo Gutierrez learned a special way to prepare pasilla peppers for his sauce in his hometown in Jalisco, Mexico. That top-secret sauce is what sets Portale's chile rellenos apart from the rest. If rellenos aren't your thing, check out the generous "surf and turf" plates, tacos, burritos and other taqueria favorites. There's homemade horchata and aqua frescas, as well as the always-coveted real Mexican Cokes. Chorizo breakfast burritos and coffee start the day right when the doors open at 10am.
