Want to Help Couples Tie the Knot? Volunteers Needed for Civil Ceremonies

There is an urgent need for volunteers on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Volunteers are needed at the Alameda County Clerk-Recorder’s Office to perform Civil Marriage Ceremonies, for a minimum of 2-and-a-half hours per week. 

The list below shows the hours when volunteers are needed for what is an exciting and rewarding experience

Qualifications

  • Personal Commitment to Alameda County Clerk-Recorder’s Department.
  • Commitment to Quality Service and Helping Others.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Minimum age: 35 years of age or older.

NOTE:

  • Persons who are fluent in languages other than English are encouraged to apply.
  • When deputized as a Marriage Commissioner, you take on the duties without compensation.

Great! Random strangers with no experience whatsoever can legally marry people in a civil ceremony at a government office, but gay couples need not apply because that would somehow harm society.
