Let's Go Fishing: One Volunteer Carried His Disabled Buddy. Listen for a Few Seconds to Find Out How It Ended.

Around 300 students from Castro Valley, San Lorenzo and San Leandro were paired with disabled buddies for this fishing trip.

This year's Let's Go Fishing program drew 300 student volunteers from area schools, including Redwood Christian, San Leandro High, Chinese Christian, San Lorenzo High, Valley Christian, Hayward High, Tennyson High and more.

The students gathered at the morning of April 7 for the annual event put on by Let's Go Fishing Ministries and Let's Go Fishing Productions, along with local Rotary Clubs and the East Bay Regional Park District.

Though rain clouds loomed most of the day, this parade was not meant to be rained on. Each volunteer was paired up with a child or adult with a physical or developmental disability.

Together they participated in a variety of activities, including fishing for hatchery-raised trout, boat rides and even lunch.

Everyone who wanted to catch a fish caught one, and volunteers were on hand to gut and clean the fish.
