Summer Means Fun at the Castro Valley Library

Put these dates on your calendar now and take advantage of these free family activities

The is announcing a line-up of summer activities for children and families.

Here's is a preview of what's to come:

In addition to live performances in the library's Chabot Room each Wednesday, at 2 p.m. (except on July 4),  Monday matinee movies will be screened at 1 p.m., in the Chabot Room.

Children may practice their reading with a teen volunteer in the Reading Buddies program on Tuesdays, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Learning Center.

Thursday is "Game Day @ the Library",  from 1 to 3 pm, where kids of all ages may play board games, Wii & X-Box games under the supervision of teen volunteers. (Please note that children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.)

The Library also offers Summer Reading Games for kids, teens and adults. Pick up a game board at the Information Desk, track your reading this summer and win prizes! Game runs June 11 - August 11, 2012.

All Library programs are free however, seating limits may be enforced.

July 11 - Python Ron – Live exotic animals

July 18 - Tony Borders “Cool Crazy Critters” ventriloquist & magic

July 25 - Wildlife Associates Amazon Animals

August 1 - Owen Baker-Flynn Comedy & juggling

August 8 - Drummm Rhythmic Events – Drumming for everyone!

There will also be two bonus shows held. On Wednesday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. the Oakland Zoo Mobile will be at the library and Thursday, July 5, at 2 p.m., Dan Chan the Magic Man, will be on hand to perform unique stunts and close-up magic.
