San Lorenzo Relay For Life Seeking Donations of All Sorts

As the August 11 and 12 event approaches, several donations ranging from money and a DJ to generators and lighting are still needed according to the event committee.

As Relay for Life draws near, the planning committee is still seeking help and participation from the community.

To date, around $12,000 has been raised for at .

"It's been really positive so far, but we need to raise more," said event chair Kathleen Harrigan.

There are still a few other goals the committee hopes to hit by then as well.

Aside from money, the commitee is also seeking donations for lighting, a DJ and generators.

"We come to the table without any money at all," Harrigan said.

A few local organizations and agencies have already made a few donations. offered port-o-potties, trash cans and tables.

One of the biggest items Harrigan is hoping to get is a giant projector for the powerpoint presentation of participants and why they are fighting for this cause during the luminary ceremony.

"It's very powerful. I'd like to have that for people," Harrigan said. "I lost my best friend and I remember that. And that's the reason why I'm doing this."

Teams consisting of 10 people are still being formed for the event. Harrigan said even if those don't wish to be part of team can still show support by just showing up during the event. She hopes to have at least 20 cancer survivors be part of the August event.
