The Alameda County Fair marked its centennial celebration with at 100 second kissing contest.

"Can you kiss for 100 seconds?" Alameda County Fair Public Relations Representative, April Mitchell, asked the growing crowd.

The crowd was gathering mostly for the evening, but they were treated to something else before the music festivities.

Seventeen couples turned out for the Couples were separated into four groups. The contest was divided into three heats during which the couples were required to eat through a large hunk of cotton candy, then kiss for 100 seconds. Couples were eliminated throughout the process. The last heat was down to a lean four couples competing against one another.

"I said a kissing contest!" Arcadio piped up.

It appears to have been some worth while web surfing that led to Arcadio finding out about the contest. The couple's lip-locking skills earned a $100 Visa gift card, a wine tasting voucher for Garre Vineyards and a stay at Pleasanton's Hyatt House.

"We did what what we normally do," Arcadio said when asked about their technique. "That's how we got the babies."

The fair runs through July 8 and is closed on Mondays.
