7-Eleven Day Means Free Slurpees for All
The convenience store celebrates its birthday/anniversary every year by giving away its signature 7.11-ounce frozen drinks for free.
It seems hard to believe, but the first 7-Eleven store opened in 1927, meaning the convenience store chain will celebrate its 85th anniversary this year.
This is exciting for one reason: 7-Eleven Day is almost here — free Slurpees for everyone!
As has become the annual tradition, 7-Eleven patrons will be given a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee from stores all over the country including about 400 stores in the Bay Area by simply for the asking anytime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 11. That's this Wednesday.

The celebration is especially noteworthy because it also marks the 45th anniversary of the creation of the Slurpee itself.
“This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million," said Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, in a media release on the company's Web site.

The company has also created downloadable birthday attire — tiny bowties, hair bows and two sizes of party hats — for folks who want to dress for the occasion. They can be found at http://www.7-Eleven.com or www.slurpee.com/Rewards.
Six Flags is getting in on the action as well by offering a special admission price of $7.11 to guests after 7:11 p.m. on 7-Eleven Day when they present a receipt from a 7-Eleven purchase dated 7/11/12. Guests will receive a VIP wristband to attend the “Exclusive 7-Eleven Coasters After Dark” event that evening. For more information, go to www.slurpee.com and www.sixflags.com.
