VIDEO: Hundreds Roll Into Castro Valley For Bike Party

Area Cycles hosted the monthly East Bay Bike Party in the store's parking lot Friday night.

Starting at 8 p.m., the pack of more than 400 riders trekked the route, which included 50 turns of direction.

Beginning at South Hayward BART station, the group of bicyclists rode through the streets of Hayward and Castro Valley, ending up in front of  and the Adobe Plaza's parking lot off Castro Valley Boulevard.

After the journey, riders socialized in the parking lot, feasted on food truck fare from MoGo BBQ, played games like bike jousting and pedaled their way to frozen drinks (see video above).

It was the first time Bike Party passed through and ended up in Castro Valley. Organizers said they received plenty of support from the police and community and hope to host in the unincorporated area again in the future.

The goal of these monthly rides is to have a themed, "community-oriented, people-positive, law-abiding ride" for the local bicyclists.
