Football Winners: O'Dowd, Castro Valley, Mt. Eden

San Leandro still qualifies for playoffs; Games to come in Fremont and Newark

Here are the scores from the high school football games played on Thursday evening.

Bishop O'Dowd 48  San Leandro 26

San Leandro High was gunning for a league title, but Bishop O'Dowd High dashed those hopes by defeating the Pirates, 48-26.

Bishop O'Dowd led for most of the game, which was played at Chabot Community College.

San Leandro had won five in a row coming into the game. They finish the regular season with a 6-4 overall record and a 5-2 mark in league play.

Bishop O'Dowd ends the regular season with an 8-2 mark and a perfect 7-0 league record.

San Leandro had already qualified for the playoffs in Division I.

Castro Valley 38  Hayward 13

Castro Valley High ended the regular season on a winning note by knocking off Hayward High, 38-13

The Trojans took an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter, then strolled into the locker room at halftime with a 17-6 advantage.

Castro Valley stretched that margin to 31-13 in the third quarter before icing the game in the final period.

On Saturday, Castro Valley defeated Newark Memorial High, 27-7, in the completion of a game that was suspended on Sept. 9 due to stormy weather.

The Trojans finish with a 6-4 record overall and a 6-2 league record. They have won six in a row and have qualified for the playoffs in Division II.

Hayward ends the regular season with a 3-7 overall mark and a 2-5 league record.

Mt. Eden 20  San Lorenzo 13

San Lorenzo High finished with a winless season after losing Thursday afternoon to previously winless Mt. Eden High, 20-13.

The Rebels finish the 2011 season with a 0-10 overall record and a 0-7 league record.

Mt. Eden ends up with a 0-7 record in both league and overall play.

Tennyson 14  Arroyo 13

Arroyo High lost a tight game to Tennyson High, 14-13, on Thursday.

Arroyo had a chance to win late in the game but failed on a two-point conversion attempt.

Arroyo finishes the regular season with a 4-5 overall record and a 3-4 league mark.  They have already qualified for the playoffs in Division II.

Tennyson finished at 8-2 overall and 5-2 in league.

On Friday, Newark Memorial High defeated Irvington High, 47-12.

On Saturday, Newark Memorial lost to Castro Valley, 27-7, in the completion on that Sept. 9 game that was suspended due to stormy weather.

Newark Memorial is now 5-4-1 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Newark has already qualified for the playoffs in Division II.

On Saturday, James Logan High defeated Washington High, 17-8.

The Colts finish with a 10-0 overall record and 6-0 in league play.

Washington is 3-7 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Logan High has already qualified for the playoffs in Division I.
