Hall of Fame Banquet Tickets On Sale

Castro Valley Sports Foundation holds fundraiser to benefit local youth sports April 21

 

The Castro Valley Sports Foundation will hold its Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony April 21 at the in Castro Valley.

Tickets are $75 each for the dinner and program that starts at 6 p.m.and must be ordered in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Proceeds raised during the evening will benefit Castro Valley youth sports. 

To order tickets make your check payable to"CVSF" and mail it to CVSF, P.O. Box 20687, Castro Valley, CA  94546. (Be sure to include  the number of tickets you wish to order and your name, return address, phone number, and email address where you can be reached). Says the foundation about the event on its website -

"Major league baseball players, Olympians, All-Americans and other record-setting athletes highlight the group of 16 that will enter the Castro Valley Sports Hall of Fame this Spring.

Some of Castro Valley’s finest sports figures comprise the second class of the Sports Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Castro Valley Sports Foundation.  (The inaugural class of 16 was inducted in 2010.) 

The 2012 Class includes current Houston Astros catcher Jason Castro, Oakland A’s bullpen coach Rick Rodriguez, former Castro Valley High School athletic director and coach Dale Berven, Olymic wrestler Buck Deadrich, Olympic weightlifter David Langon, basketball standouts Kim Manifesto Windsor and Allison Greenaway, tennis great Rolf Wiedenmeyer, winning jockey Bobby Gonzalez, softball stars Lizzy Prescott and Paula Frueh Labrador, miler Larry Guinee, racquetball champion Gerry Price, multi-sport sensation Lloyd Johnson, champion wrestler Mike Remer and the late Jerry Campbell, CVHS’s first sports super star.

            Nominations for the Hall of Fame were solicited from the public and a nine-person committee appointed by the CVSF has met regularly for the past eight months as part of the selection process."
