It’s that time of year again! Eden Medical Center’s annual Run to the Lake will take place on Sunday, July 10, at 8 a.m. at 20103 Lake Chabot Rd., Castro Valley.

The popular 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) run/walk and 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) run are expected to draw more than 1,100 participants from around the Bay Area.

Both courses run from Eden Medical Center to Lake Chabot Park and back. The 5K course is mostly flat and fast on paved surfaces. The challenging 10K course runs along the rolling, hilly west trail of Lake Chabot, with paved and trail surfaces and a fast finish.

Registered runners and walkers will be treated to a variety of refreshments, a commemorative T-shirt, and awards for top finishers in age categories.

The family-friendly event features a 50-yard Kids' Dash just for children ages 3 to 8. Every child is a winner with a finisher’s ribbon, goodie bag and special T-shirt.

Kids can also meet the Nesquik Bunny and CHiPper, the CHP chipmunk.

The first 100 children who participate will receive one free month of tae kwon do with a free uniform from Martial Arts America and be included in a random prize drawing for one karate birthday party.
