Yoga & the Sacred Bone: Asana & the Sacro-illiac Joint w/Baxter Bell, MD

Join us for this therapeutically focused workshop exploring the relationship of yoga and the sacrum and pelvis. Normally, this area is stable and relatively immobile. Athletes, dancers and yogis, however, can develop excess movement in this area that can be a source of pain and dysfunction. We'll look at the posture culprits and ways of improving the health of this vital area. Not appropriate for those with acute pain or injury to SI area. 

 

Baxter is the co-director of the Piedmont Yoga Studio’s Deep Yoga Teacher Training program.  He leads local public and specialty Back Care yoga classes in the Bay area, as well as workshops and retreats in the US and abroad.  Baxter is a frequent guest faculty teacher for teacher training programs around the country, with a focus on experiential anatomy and yoga, and yoga therapeutics.   He is featured in Yoga Journal’s DVD “Yoga for Stress” and has been a contributing writer for the magazine, as well as other publications related to yoga and health.  Baxter’s students say they appreciate his clarity of instruction and his infectious sense of humor.  To learn more, visit his website at: www.Bellyoga.info.
