East Bay Regional Parks Still Have Space in Summer Outdoor Camps for Kids

Financial aid is available for qualifying families.

The East Bay Regional Park District still has scholarships available to help children attend the district's summer camps.

Here's a summary of camps that may still have spaces left, with descriptions as provided by the park district:

Tilden Nature Area

The Tilden Nature Area in Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, hosts the “Tilden Little Farm Camp” for ages 8-11. Experience the old-time country farm lifestyle during a week of farm camp fun. Students learn about caring for farm animals, harvesting, cooking and getting dirty. Available dates include the weeks of July 5 - 8  and August 1 - 5. (Note: This is a change from a previously advertised schedule that included July 4. Sorry for any inconvenience!)

Junior Lifeguards

A fun, challenging program with a variety of beach and water activities for ages 8-13. Programs offered at Contra Loma (Antioch), Lake Anza (Berkeley), Lake Temescal (Oakland), (Castro Valley) and Shadow Cliffs (Pleasanton). Learn water safety, rescue, first aid and CPR skills. Campers need to know how to swim and must be able to pass a 25-yard swim test the first day of each session.

Park’N It Day Camp

A summer of outdoor adventures for ages 5-12 awaits. Explore the regional parks through field trips, art, swimming and outdoor play. Programs offered at Contra Loma (Antioch), Castle Rock (Walnut Creek), Don Castro (Castro Valley), Lake Temescal (Oakland) and Ardenwood (Fremont).

Recreation leaders, naturalists, rangers and lifeguards will take campers behind the scenes to discover nature’s secrets. Ask about our family discount (not available online and not given once online registration is completed).

The schedule of camps follows:

June 20-24: Contra Loma, Castle Rock (ages 6-10)

June 27-July 1: Don Castro, Temescal (ages 6-10)

August 1-5: Ardenwood (ages 5-8 and ages 9-12)

All dates meet Monday through Friday, 9 a.m, to 4 p.m. The fee is $200 for residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Extended care is available 8-9 a.m. and 4-5 p.m.
