A real world "cold case" mystery several hundred million years old - the mass extinction of dinosaurs - will be explored November 15 during a lecture sponsored by the Castro Valley Educational Foundation.
Dr. Peter Roopnarine, Curator of the California Academy of Sciences, will discuss the relationship of mass extinctions and climate change throughout the natural history of the earth. There will be a question and answer period after his presentation.
The free lecture takes place at 7 p.m. at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts located at 19501 Redwood Road, Castro Valley (on the Castro Valley High School Campus).
Castro Valley Educational Foundation (C.V.E.F.) Lectures bring world-class scientists and experts to the local community. (This is the second lecture in a series. Earlier this year, Dr. Henry Gilbert of California State University East Bay discussed early human origins in Africa.)
The next lecture in the series is slated for January 10 when Dr. Kathleen Pollard of the Gladstone Institutes and the University of California San Francisco will speak about what makes us human.
