Video: KIPP Charter Dedicates New Gym, Classrooms

This charter school in San Lorenzo has completed $11.1 million in new construction at its high school on Via Barrett.

 

The new gymnasium at KIPP Collegiate High School in San Lorenzo was filled with cheering students, proud parents and pleased administrators Monday afternoon as this charter school dedicated $11.1 million in new construction, adding five instructional buildings and a gymnasium for its 450 secondary students.

Among those in attendance were:

Dr. Dennis Byas, superintendent of San Lorenzo Unified School District, which chartered KIPP;

school board members Norman Fobert and Penny Peck; and 

KIPP founder Jason Singer, after whom the new gym is named. Singer appears in the video, in a white shirt, kneeling while peeling a tangerine for his sons.
