Teachers' Contract Ratified Without Discussion

No pay increases for teachers for third year in a row.

The Castro Valley Unified School District ratified a collective bargaining agreement with teachers Thursday night that includes no pay increase for the third year in a row but gives teachers a one-time-only payment of $1,000 next month.

Slightly larger K-12 and ninth-grade classes will continue this year, according to the agreement.

The school board ratified the agreement without discussion after a public hearing during which no one came forward to speak.
