Sept. 11 in the Eyes of a 10-Year-Old

A few students from Lorenzo Manor Elementary School shared their perceptions about the upcoming 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11.

The year 2001 was marked by profound tragedy as people across the U.S. grieved over the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

However, that same year was also a blessing for some families —welcoming a son or daughter into this world.

But as these children grew, so did their curiosity about what happened the year they were born. If their parents or teachers did not give them the answers they were looking for, they turned to the Internet.

At , teacher Manuela LuQue is hoping to answer more of their questions by bringing in guest speakers from the military, Alameda County Sheriff's Department and Alameda County Fire Department during a special Sept. 11 assembly this Friday, Sept. 9.

They may be young, but watch the video above to hear what a few of her fifth grade students had to say about Sept. 11, 2011.
