New Fall Classes Support Small Business, Entrepreneurs, and Employee Success

Castro Valley Adult Career and Education is offering several social media and marketing, business productivity, entrepreneurship, and productivity-enhancement courses this fall, all designed to foster local business success.

Small businesses are the economic engines of the United States, employing nearly half of all private sector employees. At the same time, as anyone who’s ever owned or worked for a small business knows all too well, there are significant challenges to creating and sustaining a successful business.

Castro Valley Adult and Career Education is offering a number of social media and marketing, business productivity, entrepreneurship, and productivity enhancement courses this fall, all designed to foster local business success.

“There’s a growing demand for courses that give small business owners, entrepreneurs, and employees the tools they need to become more effective and successful,” said Susie Passeggi, director of Castro Valley Adult and Career Education. “We’re focused on helping individuals and businesses achieve their goals so our local community becomes more economically strong and vibrant.”

The courses are offered in partnership with the . Fall quarter begins Tuesday, Aug. 28.

This fall, the school is offering social media and marketing courses to help businesses use social media more effectively and creatively, which is especially important for local companies looking to build awareness and drive business.

Classes include marketing using social media, fundamentals of using Facebook, and blogging for business. Another class of note — managing one’s personal on-line presence — is especially relevant for job-seekers who use social media.

Business productivity classes include accounting, QuickBooks, software applications such as Microsoft Office, classes to support Mac users, and keyboarding. The school offers a range of computer education courses for people of all technical abilities, from novice to advanced.

New entrepreneurship classes include courses in launching an independent business, marketing a home-based business, and fundamentals of rental real estate.

Negotiation and time-management classes are also new additions to the course offerings this fall. These courses are valuable for anyone wanting to bolster his or her goal-setting abilities, business or salary negotiation skills, or productivity on the job.
