Local Elementary School Teachers Honored as 'Teachers of the Year'

Sharon Brikovich-Pipkins of Palomares Elementary School and Pamela Fobert of Corvallis Elementary School will receive 2012 Teacher of the Year Awards for the Castro Valley and San Lorenzo Unified School Districts.

The Alameda County Office of Education is proud to announce this year's winners of the celebrated Teacher of the Year Awards.

The district winners will be honored and recognized for their achievements during an award ceremony on October 4, 2012 at the .

The Alameda County Teacher of the Year winner, and candidate for the state nomination, will also be announced during the event. The event is open to the public; registration details will become available in July.

"I congratulate the 2012 honorees for their exceptional performance and work ethic," said Sheila Jordan, Superintendent of Alameda County Schools. "In the spirit of this year's theme, 'Awakening the Magic Within,' I also want to recognize and thank all the faculty and staff who magically make the most of what they have with the limited resources available to them. Thank you for your creativity and resourcefulness."

This year's theme "Awakening the Magic Within" celebrates the inner resources that our teachers call upon to engage the diverse learning needs of our children.
 
The eighteen districts and Regional Occupational Programs that submitted their "2012 Teacher of the Year" are (in order by district):

This is the 23rd year that the Alameda County Office of Education recognizes and celebrates teachers throughout Alameda County for their excellence in classroom instruction. The honor and significance of the award will be throughout the 2012/2013 school year.

Another problem: When notified of a reply to a comment I could click the link in the email to go toRead More the article. That was not possible this time. So because a small minority zooms there computer the layout should be as it is? I don't think so. All that white space means that an article that could be read with just one or two clicks to scroll through is now going to take more scrolling to view. One thing that seems to be missing in today's world are web designers who (1) change the layout just because and (2) web designers who have neglected to consider the audience. The more I look at this layout the less I like it. The font needs to be darker than it is. the blue (like in "announcements") needs to be bolder. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 best), I rank the new "improved" design a 3.
