Affordable Care Act Forum

Alex Brisco, Director, Alameda County Health Care Services Agency will be the featured speaker at a Forum on the new federal Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The Forum will be held on Friday, March 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the San Lorenzo Village Homes Assoc., 377 Paseo Grande.  It is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters Eden Area and the American Association of University Women-Hayward/Castro Valley Branch.  The forum is open to the public.

The ACA, passed in 2010, put in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will roll-out over the next four years and beyond.  Most significant changes take place by 2014.  Other changes are already implemented.

Lawsuits have been filed to overturn portions of the ACA.  Some politicians are suggesting the whole act be dumped.  The public is asking,  “How will it affect me and my health coverage?”

Brisco is a well-known speaker and has a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable people on the topic.  He will answer questions at the end of his presentation.
