Proceeds from event earmarked for local vocational education program
According to the event"s website, "The Eden Area Regional Occupational Program (ROP) played a major role in making the car show a success last year. The Automotive Technology Program, Culinary Arts Program and Criminal Justice Program will again be contributing to the planning and will provide support the day of the event."
Organizers say proceeds from the 2011 car show were donated to the ROP Automotive Technology Program, allowing it to purchase $2,500 in items from a wish list it had compiled. Those items are now being used to train high school students enrolled in the program. "In addition," they say, "we were able to support the Culinary and Criminal Justice Programs with a $500 gift for each program."
Proceeds raised from this year's event will again go to support Eden Area ROP, which serves students from high schools in Hayward, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo and San Leandro.
