Budget Update on School Board Agenda Tonight

Castro Valley school board will also hear report on the district's proposed energy management conservation program

Money and energy will be the topics tonight when the Castro Valley Unified School District's board of education gathers for its bi-monthly meeting.

The board meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the district offices at 4400 Alma Ave.

The trustees will hear an update on the district's budget from Michael Bush, the assistant superintendent for business services.

The report will include the state legislature's Thursday deadline for putting a measure on the June ballot to extend some temporary tax hikes.

The board will also hear a report from Superintendent Jim Negri on the district's energy conservation management program.

District officials plan to launch a program to reduce energy consumption at schools. The measures include shutting classroom doors when air conditioning is being used, turning off exhaust fans during the day and shutting down computers and other office equipment overnight.
