Back to School: First Board Meeting is Thursday

Money and seismic retrofitting top the agenda of the first meeting of the new school year for Castro Valley Unified School District.

The first 2011-2012 regular meeting of Castro Valley Unified School District's Board of Education is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. in the District Board Room at 4400 Alma Avenue. The agenda includes:

  • A report on the adopted state budget, which remains flat but includes triggers for possible mid-year cuts if state revenues don't meet budget expectations
  • A report on seismic retrofitting for Marshall, Proctor and Vannoy elementary schools, which are on time and expected to be complete before the new school year begins
  • An initial discussion regarding equity of school funding
  • Identification of questions board members have in their exploration of the possibility of getting voter approval to levy parcel taxes
