Arroyo High School Rally Honors 'X Factor' Contestant

Ellona Santiago was presented with certificates and a warm welcome home on Valentine's Day

Arroyo High School held a Valentine's Day rally in honor of student Ellona Santiago's homecoming.

Santiago, who was a competitor on the 'X Factor,' met with many elected officials and was given a Congressional certificate of honor by Congressman Swalwell, along with a certificates from Senator Ellen Corbett and Alameda County, according to her Twitter feed.

The Alameda County Fire Department posted this photo (courtesy of Michelle Clowser) and a status update on their Facebook page posing with Santiago at the rally.

Clowser says the rally was the brain child of fire Captain Ismail Ramsey, of Station #22 Alameda County Fire Department.

Representatives from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Alameda County Supervisor Supervisor Wilma Chan, Village Volunteers, San Lorenzo School Board Members and San Lorenzo Village Homes Association Members were all in attendance.

Santiago made it to the Top 40 contestants in September of 2013 and was eliminated from the Top 6 in December.
