Introducing Sabrina Strach, High School Blogger for CV Patch

Introduction to my blog.

Bonjour Castro Valleyians. I'm Sabrina Strach. For my first blog post, I thought I would share a little bit about myself and what I'll be writing for my blog.

I am a sophomore at Castro Valley High School. I'm enrolled in French. Though it is a beautiful language, je ne le parle pas très bien. (I don't speak it very well.) In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, writing, and baking. I dance at Castro Valley Performing Arts located on the boulevard, Center Street, and our new studio over at Somerset. Besides dance, I also love to write. I'm trying to write a novel and I hope one day to be published. And if I don't end up getting published, I hope to become an advertising copywriter or a journalist.

The reason I started this blog is because I love writing about almost anything, but there is hardly anyone I can share my writing with. The people who regularly read my stuff are my dad, grandma, and my best friend. They all love my stuff, but I'm really hoping for a larger audience who will love to read my blog posts as much as I love to write them.

Normally I'm chock full of ideas, but there will be days when I suffer from the infamous writer's block. You are welcome to send me suggestions on things I should write about. Are you interested in the orange kangaroo hopping through the streets of Castro Valley? I could definitely write about that. (Not that there is an orange kangaroo hopping around...) Maybe you want to know what's happening at the high school. I could get you the full inside scoop because I go there. If you're looking for knitting or cake pops, you have clicked the wrong link. The best thing I can knit is probably a knot...

Anyway, if you're feeling the urge to send me a suggestion, go right ahead. Thanks for reading and have a fantastic day!

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Another problem: When notified of a reply to a comment I could click the link in the email to go toRead More the article. That was not possible this time. So because a small minority zooms there computer the layout should be as it is? I don't think so. All that white space means that an article that could be read with just one or two clicks to scroll through is now going to take more scrolling to view. One thing that seems to be missing in today's world are web designers who (1) change the layout just because and (2) web designers who have neglected to consider the audience. The more I look at this layout the less I like it. The font needs to be darker than it is. the blue (like in "announcements") needs to be bolder. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 best), I rank the new "improved" design a 3.

was on my father's laptop and he zooms his screen to 125...didn't need to keep bumping the pageRead More right and left, kinda liked it then.

Why does the new layout waste nearly half of the screen? There's a wide white space on the left andRead More even wider white space on the right. While the old layout could have been tweaked some, the new format isn't the answer. One good thing. I no longer have to sign in each time I want to make a comment. It has finally decided that I'm serious when I say I want Patch to remember me on this computer.

This was very successful. Thank you to the 32 families that participated and to Papa Panchos forRead More their generous donations, even above the percentage they promised. It made for a very busy night.
