If you looking for an "average home" in Castro Valley, you can find one in the $400,000 range.

According to the website trulia.com, the median price for a home sold between mid-October and mid-December was $468,000.

What can you get for that price? Here's one example.

A three bedroom, three bathroom house at 4511 Edwards Lane is listed at $455,000.

Another example is a two bedroom, two bathroom house at 4092 Nichandros St., which is listed at $435,000.

The home, built in 1956, has 1,800 square feet. It's been on the market for about seven months.
