The Duck Pond is a San Lorenzo institution but it attracts so many migratory fowl that workers of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District are hard-pressed to keep nearby walkways and soccer fields clear of droppings.
On Monday HARD will consider various plans to improve the 51-acre San Lorenzo Community Park and the 3-acre pond that is the focus of the poop problem
What should the rec district should do? Remember, money doesn't grow on trees. HARD maintains dozens of facilities in San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, Hayward and San Leandro. Any many of then are aging and need upgrades.
