Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) will host two Senior Scam Stopper events in the 20th Assembly District this fall with Congressman Eric Swalwell. The events, held in cooperation with the Contractor’s State License Board, will help consumers learn how to spot common scams and avoid falling prey to them.
The seminars will feature a panel of experts from across the state, who will discuss topics including: how to protect oneself from identity theft, how to avoid investment related scams, and what to look for and ask about before engaging in home and auto repair contracts.
“The goal is to empower consumers before the damage is done, by educating them about what to look for and what questions they need to ask,” said Assemblymember Quirk.
The Senior Scam Stopper seminars are scheduled on the following dates, at the times and locations shown:
- Oct. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m @ San Lorenzo Village Homes Association, 377 Paseo Grande, San Lorenzo
- Oct. 21 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. @ Ashland Community Center, 1530 167th Avenue, San Leandro
