Senator to Honor Hayward Woman as 'Woman of the Year'

Kathy Morris will be recognized at an event at the Hayward City Hall Rotunda on March 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Submitted by the Office of Senator Ellen Corbett—

Senator Corbett will honor Hayward Mobilehome Owners Association (HMOA)
President Kathy Morris as the “Woman of the Year” for the 10th State Senate
District.

As a committed local constituent and affordable housing advocate, Kathy Morris
has remained active in Hayward for many years, particularly since her election as
HMOA President over 15 years ago.

As the organization’s leader, she represents nine mobilehome parks in Hayward and over 5,000 residents and has consistently advocated on behalf of mobilehome residents at both the local and state levels, including promoting affordable housing for seniors and local ordinances that  protect senior mobilehome parks from conversions to all-age parks.

As the author of several bills that benefit mobilehome residents—including
ensuring tenants rights when residents sell their mobilehomes and guaranteeing
the prompt return of their deposits—Senator Corbett believes that Kathy Morris is
an unsung hero that deserves this “Woman of the Year” award for her continued
efforts to promote affordable housing efforts benefiting her neighbors and
community.

During the celebration, the Senator will also publicly recognize her “Honor
Roll”—local women that have been elected to public office in the 10th State
Senate District.
