Join Senate Majority Leader Ellen M. Corbett on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Affordable Care Act Town Hall & Health Fair under the large white tent on the St. Rose Hospital Campus.
California is leading the nation in implementing federal health care reform that extends insurance coverage to many Californians who have previously been uninsured.
On Oct. 1, California individuals, families and small businesses began signing up under the federal Affordable Care Act for health care coverage that begins in January 2014.
California was the first state in the nation to enact legislation to implement this federal law by creating a health benefit exchange called Covered California.
Covered California will use an Internet platform to enable millions of Californians and small businesses to begin enrolling for affordable, high quality health insurance. It is expected that an estimated 2.3 million California residents will enroll in a health plan through Covered California over the next four years.
This town hall hosted by Senator Corbett will feature a panel of experts that will answer questions from local residents, business owners or other stakeholders.
There will also be a Health Fair where participants can receive health screenings and learn more about local health resources from over 60 community service organizations and government agencies.
