Register December 10 To Attend Holiday Party For Families In Need

Children age 12 or younger in need who want to attend a December 19 celebration at the Ashland Community Center must sign up in advance

The Ashland Community Center will hold a pre-registration session December 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. for those with children age 12 years old or younger who are in need and wish to attend its annual holiday party.

This year's party will be held December 19 from 2:30 to 5 p.m., at the center located at 1530 167th Avenue in San Leandro, but you must pre-register at the center on December 10 in order to attend. Admission is limited to the first 220 children registered.

The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is hosting the party. Children will receive a snack, listen to a story, receive a toy and get to visit with Santa Claus who will arrive at 2:30 p.m. Each child must be present in order to receive their gift.

To sign up on December 10 you must bring proof of residency (a current rental agreement, utility bill or mortgage statement); proof of income (pay stubs, bank statement or county aid certification) and identification for children living with you (a medical card, Social Security card, school identification or report card.)

If you have questions about registration or the event call 510-888-0117.

On December 20 a free holiday concert, which does not require advance registration and which is free and open to everyone, will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Ashland Community Center.  The concert will be presented by the San Francisco Opera Guild and will feature holiday songs for families.

The party is being supported and helped by the office of Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, Castro Valley Rotary, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office COPP Shop, DSAL and San Lorenzo High School Associated Student Body.
