Public Works Seeks Unincorporated Communities' Input on County's Pedestrian Master Plan
The agency will host seven community meetings throughout the unincorporated areas to give residents a chance to voice their opinions about the walk and bike-friendly plan.
Alameda County's Public Works Agency is seeking public comment on its $50,000 Pedestrian Master Plan, set to make biking and walking between the unincorporated areas of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland and Cherryland more accessible.
Public works plans to expand the current 42 miles of bicycle paths to 250 miles — connecting the unincorporated areas of the county.
Residents, businesses and all property owners of these communities are invited to attend and share their input on the Draft Alameda County Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan at one of seven meetings hosted by the agency.

Attendees are also encouraged to comment on the bicycle planning documents, inquire about planned bicycle projects and propose new bicycle projects in the unincorporated areas.
In an interview with the Castro Valley Forum, county transportation planner Paul Keener said the purpose of the plan is to help residents "get around without a car" in order to "reduce greenhouse gases and to be more environmentally friendly."
