Photo Gallery: Celebrate Castro Valley Boulevard Makeover

Come to a street party on Saturday, November 10, from 3-6 pm to commemorate the completion of the Castro Valley Boulevard Streetscape Project

The long-awaited completion of the Castro Valley Boulevard Streetscape  Project is just around the corner and on November 10 the community is invited to celebrate the milestone during a street party from 3 to 6 p.m.

The local public will be able to "Meet in the Street!" on Castro Valley Boulevard, which will be closed to vehicle traffic, between San Miguel Avenue and Redwood Road. All ages are invited to come out and have a good time and meet and greet neighbors and friends.

The event will include free entertainment, prizes, a poker run, and a  Boulevard Shopping Passport promotion as well as a light parade which will start at 5:30 p.m.

You can keep track of plans for the celebration on its own Facebook page here.

Meanwhile, check out these images. Upload your own pictures. Share your memories of the Boulevard over the years.

That looks like the end of the BLVD where Valley Inn is today. The Gas Station is now where Valley Inn is located. I've included a pic from Google Earth. I tried to screen capture the current pic to have a similar perspective to the old one. http://i46.tinypic.com/2zdx8ns.jpg

I don't see the hills in the background in the Google pic. Are you sure?

Just uploaded a cropped side by side. I'm positive.

The old pic shows what is currently (Right to Left) Brother Furniture, Donut Express, etc. I also re-uploaded the old pic again followed by my "Google Earth" screen captured (and cropped to match) pic. You can pass between the two pics and see for yourself.
