Nomination Period for Alameda County Candidates Starts Today

Three Castro Valley Unified Board of Education and three San Lorenzo Unified Board of Education seats are up for grabs in the November general election. The filing period goes from Monday to Friday Aug. 10.

If you want to , now’s your chance to file with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters.

The nomination period begins today and ends Aug. 10 for the Nov. 6 general election.

In Castro Valley, open positions include the three Board of Education seats, according to the Registrar of Voters.

The terms for Castro Valley Board of Education President Kunio Okui, Vice-President/Clerk Jo A.S. Loss, and member John Barbieri end this year.

In San Lorenzo, open positions include three Board of Education seats as well.

The terms for San Lorenzo's Board of Education President Norman Fobert, Vice-President/Clerk Helen Foster, and member Jim Sherman.

has three seats to fill on its board of directors. The terms of president Timothy McGowan, and secretaries Daniel M. Akagi and Dave A. Sadoff end this year.

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) has two open seats on its Board of Directors. The term of Doug Linney of Ward 5 comes to an end this year. District 5 is comprised of the city of Alameda and unincorporated area of San Lorenzo, as well as West Oakland and the Oakland Airport area and a portion of San Leandro.

East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) has three open seat on its Board of Directors. The term of Doug Siden of Ward 4 ends this year. Ward 4 is comprised of Alameda, a portion of Oakland, San Leandro, and San Lorenzo.

BART Board of Directors also has three open seats to fill. The term of John McPartland of District 5 ends this year. District 5 is comprised of Castro Valley (partial), Cherryland (partial), Dublin, Hayward (partial), Livermore, Pleasanton and Sunol.

Eden Township Healthcare District Board of Directors has the two seats of Ronald Hull and Rajendra Ratnesar to fill.
