Merchants Suffering in Construction Zone to be Paid a Visit Wednesday by Supervisor Nate Miley

A contingent of county officials will meet at 4 p.m. at the Daughtry building, then walk along the construction zone to talk with merchants whose businesses have sharply declined.

Businesses suffering in the construction zone on Castro Valley Boulevard west of Redwood Road will be paid a visit Wednesday afternoon by Nate Miley, president of the Alameda County board of supervisors and Castro Valley's representative on the board.

The walk-through will begin at 4 p.m. at the Daughtry building at 3295 Castro Valley Boulevard. In addition, the merchants will meet with Miley on May 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Since construction for the streetscape project is expected to continue for 18 months, , prompting many shoppers to take their wallets elsewhere, including out of town. The double-whammy of construction-related losses and the recession is putting some these stores within risk of closure.
