The San Lorenzo Library will hold events three consecutive days this week focused on the popular literary trilogy The Hunger Games, which will be released as a major motion picture Friday, March 23.
On Tuesday, March 20 from 4 to 5 p.m. the library, located at 395 Paseo Grande, San Lorenzo, will host a "Hunger Games Peeta Party". Librarian Tiffany Yang invites the public to the library to decorate and devour cupcakes in honor of one of the book's characters, a celebrated baker. (For those not yet immersed in the literary trilogy The Hunger Games, published by Scholastic Press, Peeta Mellark is one of of the main characters in the book.)
A Hunger Games Tribute Parade and Costume Making event will be held at the library Wednesday, March 21 from 4 to 5 p.m. and a Hunger Games Race to the Cornucopia Trivia Game takeS place the following day, Thursday, March 22 from 4 to 5 p.m.
All of the library events are free and participants will have a chance to win complimentary tickets to the Hunger Games movie which opens on Friday.
The Hunger Games is a young-adult, dystopian novel written by Suzanne Collins. It was originally published on September 14, 2008. The book is the first in The Hunger Games trilogy, followed by Catching Fire, then Mockingjay.
