State Budget--Good, Bad and/or Ugly

            Hon. Betty Yee, chairwoman of the California State Board of Equalization, will be the featured speaker at the League of Women Voters Eden Area (LWVEA) luncheon forum on Friday, March 11.

            Yee will discuss how the proposed state budget will impact local communities.  She will also explain how changes approved during the November election will alter how the legislature takes care of business.

The forum will take place at the San Lorenzo Village Homes Association Community Hall at 377 Paseo Grande, San Lorenzo starting at 11:45, lunch at noon, speaker at 12:30, ending with a Q & A session at 1:00 p.m.

The cost of the luncheon is $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  The forum is free for those who just come to hear the speaker at 12:30 p.m.

Yee was elected to the tax board in 2006 and re-elected in 2010.  She has over 25 years of experience in pubic service, specializing in state and local finance.  She served as Chief Deputy Director for Budget with the California Department of Finance where she led the development of the Governor’s Budget and negotiations with the Legislature and key budget stakeholders.
