Norris Canyon Road Traffic Delays Due to Roadway Maintenance

The Alameda County Public Works Agency will be performing a surface seal (chip seal) on Norris Canyon Road.  The work is scheduled to start at 9:00 am and be completed no later than 3:00 pm that same day.   Between those hours of work, a pilot car will assist traffic through the work zone.   Motorists will experience a 15- 20 minute delay while work is being completed.

Once the surface seal is complete, there will be loose chip rock on the road.   Norris Canyon Road will be swept on Monday night, July 25th, beginning at 10:00 pm.  Additional maintenance activity will occur throughout the week to ensure the roadway is swept completely and all stripping is replaced.   Signs warning people to reduce speed and advising of loose rock will be positioned every 1,500 feet to 2,000 feet along the roadway.   “DO NOT PASS” signs will also be displayed along the roadway.  Motorists are strongly encouraged to adhere to these cautionary signs.

For additional information, please contact Chuck Swann, Field Maintenance Supervisor, at (925) 803-7010.
