Bulldozers make short work of bar and autobody shop.

Let loose the bulldozers!

Alameda County Redevelopment Agency tore down La Taberna and an autobody shop  to clear a path for the Ashland Youth Center Project, slated to break ground this summer.

For many in the community, the bulldozers were cause for celebration.

"All the kids knew La Taberna as the place that sold crack in the back, so it’s a huge addition by subtraction," said Hilary Bass, youth  development coordinator for the Alameda County Sheriff's Youth and Family Services Bureau.
