County Honors Nancy Van Huffel

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors Board commends retired San Lorenzo Village Homes Association administrator for her community service

Nancy Van Huffel, who retired after 23 years as administrator of the (SLVHA), received a commendation from the Alameda County Board of Supervisors Tuesday for her service to the community.

The commendation was sponsored by , who represents San Lorenzo on the board.

In April, Van Huffel announced her plans to retire on or before Sept. 30, but declining health prompted her to leave in June. Kathy Martins, former president of the SLVHA board, has replaced her on an interim basis as the association's paid administrator.

The commendation cites not only Van Huffel’s service with the homes association but her active role in the League of Women Voters of the Eden Area and her service on several county advisory committees.

Nancy Van Huffel Administrator, San Lorenzo Village Homes Association 

WHEREAS, for the past twenty-three years, Nancy Van Huffel has been the Administrator of the San Lorenzo Village Homes Association (SLVHA), one of the nation's largest homeowner associations consisting of over 5,600 single-family homes; and 

WHEREAS, Nancy Van Huffel has been a member of the League of Women Voters of the Eden Area for over twenty years, during which she was Chapter President for over three years and Treasurer for eight years; and 

WHEREAS, during her tenure as the SLVHA Administrator, Nancy Van Huffel has proven her dedication to her community as shown by her service on the Alameda County Budget Advisory Committee, as well as the Library Advisory Committee, the Sheriff's Advisory Committee, and many other County committees involved with youth and climate change; and 

WHEREAS, Nancy Van Huffel has demonstrated leadership through her capacity in the League of Women Voters of the Eden Area by being instrumental in fundraising and maintaining financial reserves, connecting the organization to local elected officials, fostering discussion to develop objective analysis of issues of importance to the organization's members and community; and 

WHEREAS, Nancy Van Huffel has exemplified the values of SLVHA and the League of Women Voters, by caring about her community, dedicating herself to helping others, and strengthening the voice ofdemocracy by fighting for open government and empowering others through voter education. 

NOW, THEREFORE, this Board of Supervisors, County of Alameda, does hereby honor Nancy Van Huffel for her many years of dedicated service and work to better our communities and congratulates her on her retirement and wishes her good health and happiness in her retirement.
