Congressman to Make Lunches in Hayward at Launch of Summer Feeding Program

Eric Swalwell will help prepare bagged lunches for 'Let's Do Lunch Hayward… and Breakfast Too' as part of his ongoing 'In Your Shoes' campaign.

U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) will go “In Your Shoes” on Monday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. in Hayward to take part in the launch of Let’s Do Lunch Hayward…and Breakfast Too

The program, which is funded by the USDA’s Seamless Summer Feeding program and run by a coalition of local organizations, ensures that no child in Hayward goes without a meal while school is not in session.

Swalwell will be preparing bagged lunches at Hayward High School and then will distribute the lunches to children at Longwood Elementary School in Hayward.

“For too many children, the end of the school year marks the end of an important constant – daily meals. Just because school is out does not mean any child should have to go hungry,” saidSwalwell. “Programs like Let’s Do Lunch Hayward…and Breakfast Too are crucial to ensuring our children get the food and nutrition they need to be healthy and active regardless of financial circumstance.”
