Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Inc. has acquired Silva Pediatric Clinic, which was formerly under the auspices of St. Rose Hospital.
TVHC is a 40-year-old, federally-supported safety net clinic based in Hayward that treats families regardless of ability to pay.
St. Rose, which in the process of being acquired by a new management company, had meant to cease providing services at the Silva Clinic as part of an effort to approve its finances.
As a result of TVHC's acquisition of Silva, 3,000 children from low-income families will have continued access to healthcare.
A team under the direction of TVHC’s Chief Executive Officer David B. Vliet expects to complete the transition by early January 2013, during which time services to the community will continue without interruption.
“Under TVHC, the Silva clinic will not only survive, it will thrive," said Alex Briscoe, Director of Alameda County Health Care Services Agency and one of the local officials responsible for maintaining the heath care safety net.
