International Turkey Vulture Awareness Day is being commemorated September 1 at the Sulphur Creek Nature Center during a free program for all ages.
Come visit the center located at 1801 D Street, Hayward. Its hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You are invited to see the center's turkey vultures, who live there year-round, and learn about the important role they play in not only our own local eco-system, but around the world.
In addition to special visits with the vultures during the day author Diane Lang will be on hand to introduce her new children’s book "Vulture Verses: Love Poems for the Unloved".
Children will also be able to make a vulture-themed craft to take home with them.

Sulphur Creek Nature Center is a wildlife rehabilitation and education center nestled in the Hayward hills. It is part of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD).
