George M. Cohan Gets Toes Tapping at the County Seat

Students from Castro Valley Elementary School traveled to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors' meeting Tuesday to receive a commendation for patriotism. The group sang "You're a Grand Old Flag" for the board.

Each Friday, school begins with a unity assembly organized by student council officers. The purpose is to develop unity throughout the student body.

The sergeant-at-arms leads the Salute to the Flag, followed by students singing George M. Cohan’s patriotic song, "You're a Grand Old Flag." Singing a tribute to the U.S. flag has been a longtime tradition at Castro Valley Elementary School.
